Many who live in cities and only have access to communal sukkot, in order to avoid exposure, will say Kiddush and HaMotzi and then bentch in the shul’s communal sukkah, and then return home to continue their meal with meat, vegetables, etc. May someone bring bread and wine with them when they go to shul for Mincha on the afternoon of the first day of Sukkot in order to use it for Kiddush and HaMotzi that night in the shul‘s sukkah? Ordinarily this would be hachanah, but the Mishnah Berurah (667:5), quoting the Chayei Adam seems to permit it. What is the Rosh HaYeshiva’s opinion?

ואסור להביא יין מיו”ט לחבירו ובשעת הדחק שלא ימצא בלילה בקל מותר להביא יין וכן מים מיו”ט לחבירו רק שצריך להביאו בעוד יום גדול (דלא מוכח מילתא דאפשר דצריך עדיין לצורך היום) וגם לא יביא כדרך שנושא בחול רק ישנה ומ”מ לצורך חול אין לנו ראיה להתיר די”ל דוקא לצורך מצוה מותר ולכן אין מציעין המטות משבת לחול [ח”א]
